I know there's a new one out which deals with each couple in short stories, but this is the last couple to be introduced in this series, and what a difference they make.First, Mason and Gavin are both openly gay. In "Collide," Noah is gay, Cooper is straight, until he becomes gay-for-you; in "Stay," Wes is gay and Braden is bisexual with a strong preference for men.Second, each has had one indelible love experience--Mason with his life-long best friend Izaac, and Gavin with Braden, one of the MC's in the previous book, "Stay."Third, each has serious, deeply emotional, and potentially ruinous family issues--Mason's parents, and Izaac, expecting him to return to Denver to continue to manage the family restaurant business after getting his own bar settled in Blackcreek; and Gavin with his deeply religious mother and father who tell him that he will go to hell and not be with them if he does not change his sexual orientation. We've heard this all before, of course, but what we haven't always gotten in return are two early-30s characters who just about instantly fall in lust, and whose sexual identity defines virtually every aspect of their individual lives to the extent that they cannot keep away from each other--but also cannot help being torn apart. This one is tough all the way through--these men are real and deeply troubled in so many ways that they can only turn to each other to try to find peace. The wonderful thing is that they are so trustful with each other from the start--something ticked between them when they first meet in Mason's bar and sets them apart from so many other openly gay men in so many other MM books. The sex is absolutely terrific and extremely surprising once preferences are discovered, and the love that comes relatively early on carries them through, as it will you.

"Pretend" is the third novel of this riveting saga of the series Blackcreek. The characters, Mason and Gavin, have both come to Blackcreek to start a new life. Mason is a gay man who has been a part of a family who owns several restaurants and are very loving. After moving to Blackcreek to open up his own bar he finds out his family has lied to him all his life, he is adopted. This feeling of betrayal leads him to a life that he wants to separate from the restaurants. Gavin who also is gay, grew up in Blackcreek and left after graduating High School. He leaves with Braden Roth, who he has dated, but they are really just friends. Gavin comes back to Blackcreek after leaving his teaching job which he loved. Music is his passion. He goes to Creekside Bar and meets Mason. Sparks fly and their lives start to intertwine. They both want each other and it seems that the two are the only ones they can open them up to. They both have their family problems, Mason with the feeling of betrayal and an ex who won't leave him alone, and Gavin, with a family who never excepted him as gay, telling him he is destined for hell if he continues that lifestyle. This is a story of love and the process of realizing and understanding who and what they really want. You'll fall in love with all the characters. Cooper, Noah, Wes, Braden, Mason, and Gavin are best friends and I can't wait till the last of the series comes out. If you love MM Romance, Love, and Drama, they all have it all. You are drawn into the lives of these people and the wonderful lives they turn out to have.

Book 3) Mason and Gavin really sizzle up the bedroom and other rooms with their erotic sexy M/M hotness. Wow !! The sex in this story is explosive, erotic, deeply emotional, and off the charts wonderful !!! Gavin is beginning his life anew after quitting his old job. In this new chapter of life he meets Mason, owner of a bar and grill. Each has demons to fight, both have issues with parents, as Mason found out he's adopted, and Gavin's Dad has Alzheimer's and his Mom has strict religious beliefs that he's destined for Hell. The men find an attraction and need that overrides everything. Their relationship develops fast and is a forever kind of love. We get to see the previous series characters, which is always great, and we get to watch Gavin and Mason reevaluate their lives and expectations. Took me a bit to grab hold of this story, but was completely enthralled once I did. Worthwhile and deeply feeling, you can't go wrong here. Highly recommend ! ENJOY !!!

I enjoyed this story of love. This author is extremely good. The characters are well rounded and believable. I read the second book in the series first, not knowing which was the first book of the series. It was fantastic, so I had to read this one next next... and it was equally as good. So then I went back and bought the first so I'd have the complete story. Really a great series!!! I just wish so many writers of gay romance would not include such detailed sexual scenes, it rather cheapens the love making that is supposed to be taking place. Plus, if I wanted to read porn and get off, I'd read porn, not a romance novel!

I read a few of the other reviews and was bummed but relieved to see I wasn't the only one. I love Riley Hart, the Blackcreek series and the Broken Pieces series but as much as I wanted to love this book, I just didn't. I think the story had/has great potential, it just felt rushed or somehow lacking to me. There were more editing/grammar errors in this book than I'm used to seeing from Riley. It seemed like there were pieces of the story that weren't very relevant that had much more focus than other pieces that seemed like they would have been better expanded upon but instead were almost just brushed over. I read this immediately after reading Riley's Full Circle and was just left wanting for more and better. Mason and Gavin both definitely had the potential for great characters, just not sure they got the full development for that.
